Position Summary
The Automation Technician position maintains complex automated platforms in support of our Research, Development, and Clinical Laboratory at National Jewish Health.  
Essential Duties
  1. Becomes an expert in the routine use and maintenance of the all lab equipment.
  2. Troubleshoots anomalies in any routine automated laboratory assays.
  3. Provides training on use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all lab equipment. 
  4. Supports Clinical Laboratory Scientists with troubleshooting and resolution of laboratory automation issues.
  5. Maintains complex automation platforms for the Clinical, Development, and Research laboratories.
  6. Assists with coordination of automation service schedule and works with outside vendors to maintain in house instrumentation.
  7. Utilizes test methods to measure equipment performance.
  8. Follows in-house qualification procedures and complete associated documents.
  9. Assists with Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification procedures on all lab equipment.

  1. Maintains technical knowledge by attending vendor trainings as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
B.S. degree in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering or chemical engineering required. 
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years experience with operating laboratory equipment required.
Special Training, Certification or Licensure
Experience with using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) preferred. Proficiency in using basic word processing and spreadsheet applications preferred.
