Position Summary    

The Healthcare Training/Informaticist Supervisor provides a specialty in creating, testing, implementing, developing training material, training and leading a team of trainers for the institution.  Supports the institution by providing continuous support, troubleshooting and identifying opportunities for information system improvements. Promotes future and present system functionality by designing, building and testing the clinical information systems.  Provides consultation and educational services to staff.  Oversees and supports end-user training for staff. Contributes to the development, maintenance, evaluation, and change of the health care delivery system.  Leads staff of trainers to ensure user knowledge of assigned systems.


Essential Duties    

  1. Demonstrates advanced skills and competencies in assessing workflows impacted by Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other clinical system implementation, recommending changes as necessary, and incorporating functional workflows into design and implementation of electronic systems. 
  2. Acts as a consultant and resource to clinical and other support services staff in identification of and implementation related to business practice.  
  3. Represents the IST Project team with managers of user departments to negotiate and plan systems development and improvements and to ensure the quality and integrity of application systems.  
  4. Identifies opportunities to integrate new systems with existing systems, creates transparency of information and real time monitoring of processes, hard-wire for process integrity and desired outcomes and minimize duplication of work effort for clinicians.
  5. Assumes lead roles in determining and meeting end user needs within the confines of clinical systems, with IST team in testing of system prior to deployment, training of end-users and evaluation of system processes.
  6. Develops content and provides direction to end-user training curriculum for clinical staff, and backs up clinical applications trainer for key provider and staff training sessions.
  7. Supervises a team of trainers, ensuring coverage of training needs occurring as 1.1 sessions and in classrooms.

Minimum Qualifications


Education    

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or Nursing required.


Work Experience    

A minimum of 5 years related experience required. 2years of Clincial Informatics experience preferred. 2 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience preferred. 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

 

Special Training, Certification or Licensure    

Formal training or certification in clinical informatics is preferred.
